The Red Death pour l'album "External frames of Reference"
Interview
The Red Death pour l'album "External frames of Reference" Entretien avec Aaron Conti (Guitare) (2005)
1. First, could you please introduce your band to our readers, your main influences and the style which could best define your music ?
We are The Red Death , a Swedish style thrash metal band with interesting not boring breakdowns. Our main influences are Dimension Zero, Old Inflames, At the Gates, and some newer age metalcore bands.
2. What can we expect from your new album compared to the previous ones?
We are actually re-releasing a remixed/mastered version of a 6 song EP that came out in July, along with 3 new songs that keep up the full speed thrash attack.
3. How does the writing process goes?
We are pretty simple and normal when it comes to the writing process, since 4 of us play the guitar one of us will come to practice with an idea or 2 and we just role from there. We find it easier to please everyone in our band if no one person has the biggest writing influence in our songs.
4. Is there a tour planed to promote your new album?
We actually just got off a Full US tour with our label mates Into the Moat, and our good friends The Acacia Strain and From a Second Story Window. We are out right now with Arsis and Accursed Dawn and Meet up with label mates Vehemence in a couple weeks which takes up to New England Metal Fest. We are in the process of getting our summer touring plans together.
5. What do you do for a living apart from the band?
Everyone in this band quit school, their jobs, and a normal life to be in this band, but we couldn’t be happier. This is what we have always wanted to do
6. What is the best (an the worst) memory you have from your musician’s life?
Right now is waiting for our Debut Album to come out. Its wierd going from house shows to seeing your picture in diff magazines.
7. Do you know the French metal scene? What do you think of it?
We know very little about the central European scene, but we are planning on doing a European tour in the spring of 2006.
8. The same question goes for the metal scene as a whole. How do you think it will evolve in the few years, and how would you like it to evolve?
Right now it seems like cookie cutter Metalcore is the power behind heavy music, but I think that with the emergence of some stronger bands like Lamb of God/ Mastodon and others that a lot of the cookie cutter metalcore is going to die out and bands with integrity and talent will prevail.
9. If you could organise your own metal festival, whose bands would be invited?
3 inches of blood
Dimension Zero
Soilwork if they only played older material
Mastodon
Arsis
Vehemence
Lamb of God
And countless others
10. What are you listening to these days? Any good metal / non metal albums to recommand?
Latly with all the long drives and trying to sleep I have been listening to a lot of Elliot – False cathedrals because that is seriously the best album every to fall asleep too. Also everyone should own the knew mastodon.
11. If you could change something in this fucked up world, really anything you want, what would you
choose?
Besides curing aids, hunger, blah blah blah….
I would hope for people to take themselves a little less seriously and just try and have fun with life.
12. Last words are yours!
Keep it grim
